How To Burn One Down.....

Get Baked Candles Burning Instructions

  • First burn:  Burn your soy candle until it is melted completely across the top.  This will help prevent your soy candle from tunneling (burning down the center) and enhance the scent throw.  It does not affect the quality of the candle if some wax is left on the sides.
  • A lit candle should always be within your sight.  Make sure it’s on a heat-resistant, dry surface away from anything that can catch fire and out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Never burn a candle on or near any object that could be touched by the flame.
  • Read and follow label warnings on the bottom of the candle.
  • Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn.  This prevents smoking, carbon mushrooming and burning too fast.
  • Keep burning soy candles away from drafts and vents.

Did you know soy candles have a memory?

When you light your soy candle for the first time, it is important to remember that it has a “memory”. You should burn your soy candle for 1 hour for each inch of its diameter.  This allows your soy candle to get its full melt pool, which will increase the scent throw of the soy candle.  If a soy candle isn’t given a proper memory burn on the first one, it may cause the candle to burn in a tunnel down the center.  This shortens its life and scent throw drastically.

Soy Wax Characteristics

Soy wax is a natural product made from soya beans and other natural botanical ingredients.  Candles created from soy wax are beautiful.  They naturally have a frosting throughout the wax, and often on the surface.  Frosting on soy candles does not affect the urn of the candle and is harmless.  When working with soy wax (natural wax), you will have this unavoidable, natural characteristic.

Keep Your Wicks Trimmed to ¼” and Centered

Always trim the wick to ¼” before lighting your soy candle.  If you don’t have a wick trimmer, use scissors or nail clippers, or use a tissue to pinch off the wick to the correct size.  Don’t trim it too short or the flame will drown when the wax melts around the wick.  Extinguish the flame with a snuffer or dip the wick in the wax of the candle melt pool.  This wax coating helps protect the wick and keeps your soy candle from smoking, as it does when blown out.
